info@massimilianobrambilla.itThe term "capillary" commonly refers to unaesthetic small vessels that appear on the body's surface and have the function of conveying blood to the more superficial tissues. Scientifically speaking, we can divide them into two major families: those of arterial origin (mostly red) and those of venous origin (blue, green-blue, black). Their color varies according to origin, depth, and size, ranging from red to blue.

Capillaries can appear or increase in size due to a particular genetic and familial predisposition. Sometimes they can be a warning sign of a more significant vascular pathology affecting the deep venous system. Additionally, they can worsen with specific lifestyle factors such as sedentary behavior, lack of physical activity, excessive weight, and exposure of the skin to sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Before proceeding with treatment, it is necessary to understand the causes by conducting, if necessary, a color Doppler ultrasound. In some cases, the treatment of capillaries proves to be ineffective or yields transient results because the underlying pathology is not adequately addressed.
Therapy
The advent of laser technology has revolutionized the treatment of capillaries, although in some cases, the integration of sclerotherapy may still be necessary. Modern vascular lasers can selectively target red and blue capillaries while leaving the surrounding skin intact. The number of sessions required depends on the quantity and type of capillaries, typically ranging from three to four sessions. The results are significantly superior compared to those achieved with simple sclerotherapy and ensure greater long-term effectiveness.

Before the treatment, it is necessary to prepare the skin with specific creams. The day before the treatment, to prevent potential infections, anti-herpes pills and antibiotics should be taken.
CO2 laser acts by vaporizing tissues and is ideal for cases of highly damaged and less elastic skin. It not only eliminates the superficial layers but also induces a significant contraction of collagen and elastic fibers in the dermis, making the skin much firmer (“lifting effect”). It has been demonstrated that a single treatment stimulates abundant collagen production for years. Another advantage of the laser is the precision in leveling the treated areas to the desired thickness, leaving nothing to chance. On the downside, the post-operative period is quite demanding, and the redness that follows persists for a long time (approximately 3 months).
