Oncoplastic Breast Surgery

Oncoplastic breast surgery represents the new frontier in the surgical treatment of breast tumors. The principles underlying oncoplastic surgery are those of oncological appropriateness and adequacy of treatment (radicality criterion), in conjunction with the principle of respecting tissues and shapes.

For example:

A lower quadrantectomy can be performed following the design of an aesthetic mastopexy, leaving a vertical and periareolar scar of excellent quality instead of leading to a horrendous conization of the breast if the classic removal of the skin and breast diamond shape is pursued.
Contextual breast symmetry (for example, removing a quadrant on one side and modeling the contralateral side with a small volume reduction).
Contextual breast reconstruction through the insertion of implants or expanders.
