info@massimilianobrambilla.itThe neck is a region that plays a fundamental role in the judgment of beauty and youth. Anatomically, starting from the outside, the neck is made up of the following structures: skin, adipose tissue and platysma muscle (two thin muscles that cover the neck and which join centrally). Under the plastisma muscle we still find adipose tissue and immediately under the digastric muscle, the muscle that precedes the muscles of the base of the tongue.

As the years pass, the two plastisma muscles divide and unsightly vertical bands are created, also commonly called “turkey neck”.
Signs of neck aging
The problems that may arise in the neck over time are:
Very fat neck
If the neck is very fatty but the skin is quite toned, then the use of liposuction is the best technique. The procedure takes place through the insertion of micro cannulae which suction the adipose tissue leaving only a veil of skin and subcutaneous tissue which drapes over the muscle. If the skin is very soft, a real neck lift must be performed in order to eliminate the excess skin.
Failure of the plastisma muscle
The ideal treatment to resolve the failure of the platysma muscle is plastismoplasty which consists in bringing the margins of the platysma together again by suturing and tightening them with a corset technique. The procedure first involves aspiration of the excess adipose tissue, in some cases the adipose tissue below the platysma is also removed.
Mental hypoplasia
Sometimes if the chin is receding, the use of the insertion of a small chin prosthesis proves successful in order to give greater impetus to the face and outline a greater chin-neck angle.
